Xiaomi's T series probably offers the best price-to-features ratio among Leica flagships. And the 17T / 17T Pro pair is the classic "do I need the Pro" dilemma. Here's what the extra money buys.

Short answer

Xiaomi 17T Pro - the flagship Dimensity 9500, 144 Hz, a 7000 mAh battery, 100 W wired and 50 W wireless, 8K and 4K/120 video. Xiaomi 17T - more compact and lighter, the same camera with a 5× telephoto, and noticeably cheaper.

The same: 50 MP 5× telephoto, 12 MP ultra-wide, 32 MP front camera, up to 3500 nits, IP68, Wi-Fi 7, IR blaster.

Performance

The Dimensity 9500 is a flagship chip on the level of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Dimensity 8500 is a sub-flagship with eight "big" cores. For maxed-out gaming - the Pro; for everything else the 17T is enough.

Cameras

The telephoto is the same, but the Pro's main sensor is bigger (Light Fusion 950) and it records up to 8K / 4K120. The difference shows at night and in fast-moving scenes.

Charging

50 W wireless charging is available only on the Pro. For me that's a significant plus.

Verdict: who should buy which

  • Gaming and the best video - 17T Pro.
  • Wireless charging - 17T Pro.
  • Compactness and price - 17T.
  • Telephoto photos - both are equally good.
