Apple Watch SE 3 44mm GPS — Disadvantages

Smartphone editorial team · Updated:

Cons

Our editorial view of this model’s strengths and limitations.

Apple rates it for up to 18 hours of normal use or 32 hours in Low Power Mode. These are test estimates: GPS, calls and active apps reduce runtime, while Low Power Mode limits some features. Regular charging is still necessary.

It needs a compatible iPhone and is not a regular companion watch for Android. Health features and Apple Pay depend on region, age requirements and bank support; sensor readings do not replace medical advice.

This GPS version has no cellular modem. Staying connected requires your nearby iPhone or a suitable Wi-Fi connection; a software update cannot turn it into a Cellular model.

Try the 44 mm case before buying: comfort depends on your wrist and strap. The base case for this version weighs 32.9 g without a strap; other materials and finishes can weigh differently.

SE 3 lacks ECG and blood oxygen sensing. Its 1000-nit peak brightness is also lower than Series and Ultra, so compare those models if advanced health features or bright-sun readability matter most.

How do we assess advantages and disadvantages?

Our editorial assessment draws on specifications, manufacturer documentation and available material about the model. It does not imply our own laboratory testing. We distinguish physical RAM from virtual expansion; features and box contents can vary by market. Reference prices are conversions; check the store for the final price of an offer.
