HMD Luma — Disadvantages

Smartphone editorial team · Updated:

Cons

Our editorial view of this model’s strengths and limitations.

This is a phone for light everyday tasks. Demanding games, heavy video editing and frequent switching between many apps call for stronger hardware. Virtual memory should not be mistaken for additional physical RAM.

The 720 × 1604 resolution is a compromise. Small text and fine photo detail look less crisp than on a Full HD+ screen, particularly at close viewing distances.

Mobile connectivity stops at 4G. That is sufficient for calls, messaging and ordinary browsing, but there is no option to use a 5G network later.

Charging at 18 W is not especially fast. A brief top-up before leaving home may not add enough charge if the battery is nearly empty.

How do we assess advantages and disadvantages?

Our editorial assessment draws on specifications, manufacturer documentation and available material about the model. It does not imply our own laboratory testing. We distinguish physical RAM from virtual expansion; features and box contents can vary by market. Reference prices are conversions; check the store for the final price of an offer.
