Pros
Our editorial view of this model’s strengths and limitations.
MARINE 3 is relatively easy to carry for a rugged phone, at 10.7 mm thick and 245 g. It is lighter than large models with 10000–20000 mAh batteries, so taking it along does not require as much pocket space.
A separate infrared camera helps you see objects in the dark. It is handy for checking equipment or your surroundings, although its monochrome output is different from ordinary colour night photography.
The stated IP68/IP69K protection is useful around dust and rain when working outdoors. This makes the phone worth considering for travel and field work where a conventional slim phone would need extra protection. The rating does not make it immune to every drop.
The 90 Hz display makes scrolling through pages and menus look smoother. Its 6.56-inch size is handy for messages, videos and maps. That helps in everyday use, although game frame rates still depend on the chipset.
