TP-Link Deco M4 — Disadvantages

Cons

Our editorial view of this model’s strengths and limitations.

TP-Link Deco M4. Each unit has only two Ethernet ports. Once one is used for internet access or a wired link to another node, connections for local equipment are limited; you may need a switch.

There is no separate radio band dedicated to backhaul. Wireless links between units share airtime with clients, making placement important. Also check the pack size: the same model can be sold with different numbers of units.

This is Wi-Fi 5, without Wi-Fi 6 features such as OFDMA. It remains suitable for everyday use, but offers less room to grow when you are upgrading a network for many newer devices.

How do we assess advantages and disadvantages?

Our editorial assessment draws on specifications, manufacturer documentation and available material about the model. It does not imply our own laboratory testing. We distinguish physical RAM from virtual expansion; features and box contents can vary by market. Reference prices are conversions; check the store for the final price of an offer.
